2017 Hero World Challenge

Fantasy Golf Picks and Betting Odds for the 2017 Hero World Challenge at the Albany Golf Course in New Providence, Bahamas

THE COURSE

Albany, The Bahamas – The course at Albany is a part-links style, part-desert style, Ernie Els design that will play as a 7,302 yard, par 72 this week. With five par 5’s, five par 3’s, and eight par 4’s, it is a bit unconventional and offers a variety of strategies when selecting players.

The layout is defined by its length, undulation, and the natural water and sand dunes that encroach throughout. However, the scores will be low this week with the aggregate winning total presumably around the 20 under range. When the wind picks up, it can cause problems here, so when picking players keep an eye on the weather and tee times.

The small field this week can be disadvantageous when placing wagers due to the lessened values. So, many golf gamblers may be content to just sit back and wait for the Hawaii swing to kick off.

Where One-N-Done leagues are concerned, dueling strategies can be weighed. Is it beneficial to take a favorite in the reduced field where the odds of winning are slightly increased? Or, since the favorites this week are also likely to be attractive picks at big purse events later in the season, is it wiser to go a little further down the list and take a name that probably won’t be missed until 2019 (hmm-hmm, Patrick Reed)?
