THE OVERVIEW

The North Course, Silverado Resort & Spa, Napa, California  - The 2019 PGA Season kicks off with the Safeway Open in Napa, California. The Silverado Resort’s North Course will play this week as a 7,166-yard, par 72. It is a Robert Trent Jones Jr. design that was renovated by Johnny Miller in 2011. The course features some tree-lined fairways, tricky greens, and strategically-placed bunkering.

Like Ty Hatton on the Euro Side, Brendan Steele will be looking to three-peat at the Safeway this week.

When selecting players this week, I’ll be looking at SG: Off the Tee and SG:Approach as well as some proximity inside the 150-yard range.

THE 'FORE' SOMES

'FORE' SOMES are chosen by selecting one player from a "low tier" betting pool (30:1 or better), two players from a "mid tier" (30:1 - 75:1), and a final player from a "high tier" (75:1 & up).

KEITH'S 'FORE' SOME

Joaquin Niemann  (22:1).  Niemann is coming off of a very impressive rookie year. He’s well rested and has to be looking to start his season off with a bang. I’m fading some big names here, but I really like Niemann’s chances this week.

Brendan Steele  (33:1)  &  Chesson Hadley  (66:1).  How can I not take Steele and Hadley here? First and T3 finishes here last year, respectively. Both of these pros have got to be looking to capitalize on an event where they both have a ton of confidence. The Silverado course suits both of their games to a tee and they’ll get a chance to show off their superior wedge accuracy. Beau Hossler (33:1) and Peter Uihlein (40:1) also look good, but I’ve got to go with the gut.

Sung Jae Im  (80:1).  The break out star from last year’s Web.com Tour. I’ve been looking forward to putting a wager on this 20-year-old South Korean in a PGA event and I’ve finally got my chance. Book it.

Other names to like in this range:  Bronson Burgoon 70, Mackenzie Hughes 100, and Tyler Duncan 100.
