2017 CJ Cup at Nine Bridges

The Club at Nine Bridges – The Club at Nine Bridges, in scenic Jeju, South Korea, does not offer much info for the fantasy player looking for the usual amount of course research. (There is also no player history here, but the regionally raised swine do make the best sam gyup sal you’ll ever experience).

What we do know is that the 7,196-yard, par 72 course is relatively short by PGA standards and has fairly large landing areas. This means you can expect some low numbers this week. Stats to eye closely will be Strokes Gained Approach, Par 5 Scoring, and Birdie or Better.

Paul Casey – It’s really hard not to take Xander Schauffele in this spot, but our top tier pick this week has to be Paul Casey. Casey was an early favorite by many of us last week, and after a disappointing opening round 77, came back hot with rounds of 63, 69, and 65. We expect him to continue his low scoring on a course where he will be able to let his driver fly.

Cameron Smith & Sung Kang – Cameron Smith was our third name in this mid-tier spot last week and we were absolutely kicking ourselves when he came out with his opening round 64. We aren’t making that mistake again this week. Smith is coming off of a great week and he led the PGA in par 4 birdie or better percentage last year. From time to time Sung Kang tends to go real low and the Korean has got to be looking to shine in front of his home crowd this week. We expect him to have a good week.  (Big hitters like Gary Woodland and Thomas Pieters also set up nicely for this track).

Luke List – List absolutely bombs it off the tee and he’ll be able to use his length to his advantage on these big landing areas. He also ranks extremely well for par 5 scoring and birdie or better percentage. Cauley, Varner III, and Murray are all also nice picks among the high-odds names.
