THE OVERVIEW

Nine Bridges Golf Club, Jeju, South Korea  - The PGA is going to the South Korea for the second edition of the CJ Cup at Nine Bridges. The CJ Cup is sponsored by the very wealthy CJ Group and held on the beautiful island of Jeju just off the southern coast of South Korea.

The course this week will play as a 7,196-yard, par 72 and features wide landing areas off the tees, a fair amount of water in play, swirling winds, a lot of well-placed bunkers, and big, undulating greens. Nine Bridges is a wonderful looking layout that features on numerous best courses in the world lists...and last year, it provided some fireworks in the form of that dramatic playoff between Justin Thomas and Marc Leishman.

When selecting players this week, I'll be looking at current form, last year's scores, Strokes Gained Approach, Par 5 Scoring, and Birdie or Better Percentage.

THE 'FORE' SOMES

'FORE' SOMES are chosen by selecting one player from a "low tier" betting pool (30:1 or better), two players from a "mid tier" (30:1 - 75:1), and a final player from a "high tier" (75:1 & up).

KEITH'S 'FORE' SOME

Marc Leishman  (14:1).  Nothing to say here. Super dominant form last week. Very nearly won here last year. After fading Thomas and Koepka due to too low payout, Marc Leishman is the clear favorite in my eyes. Although Cameron Smith and Louis Oosthuizen both at 28 look awfully tempting.

Byeong Hun An (33:1)  &  Sung Jae Im  (40:1).  Doubling up on the Korean power here in the mid tier.

I was on Benny An last week and I’m not quite ready to give up on him just yet. An finished T11 at the CJ Cup last year with a third round 67. If he can put a couple good rounds together this week, he could be right in the mix.

And how about Sung Jae Im? Going off at 40 to one in just his second PGA start. The South Korean players are going to want this one bad, and I have to think that Im is just as good as any of the rest to give a run at this one.

Whee Kim  (100:1).  And to round out my squad this week, I’m taking another South Korean pro. Whee Kim has already made the cut in his first two events of the new season and seems kind of like a steal at 100:1. Kim has been playing well already in the first two events of the new season and he finished T4 at Nine Bridges last year. That’s good enough for me. Book it.
