2017 RSM Classic Fantasy Golf Picks

Sea Island Golf Club, Seaside Course – The Seaside Course at Sea Island Golf Club is a par-70 links-style track that plays fairly short at only 7,005 yards. The fairways are relatively wide but have numerous bunkers in play off the tee, and due to the shortened length, many players will be clubbing down off the tee. The greens here will be tricky to read this week and the wind may play a factor if it picks up. However, scores should get really low. Key stats that we will be focusing on are Driving Accuracy, Birdie or Better Percentage, and Scrambling.

Keep in mind that a number of PGA Tour Pros live in the area and train here. For example, J.T. Poston is a member at Sea Island. Other names that live and train nearby are:  Blayne Barber, Jonathan Byrd, Stewart Cink, Harris English, Brian Harman, Billy Horschel, Zach Johnson, Kevin Kisner, Patton Kizzire, Matt Kuchar, Davis Love III, Trey Mullinax, Seamus Power, Kyle Reifers, Hudson Swafford, and Nick Watney.

Brian Harman.  Tough pickings at the top of the board this week, the talent is strong and there’s a lot to like about all top five names, but Brian Harman gets the nod. He’s local, he’s capable of going really low, and he’s finished really well in his last two tourneys, both of which featured much stronger fields than this one (8th at WGC-HSBC and T5 at The CJ Cup).

Jamie Lovemark & Scott Brown.  In only two appearances in this event Lovemark has finished T6 & T9. And after missing the cut at The Shriners, we expect Lovemark to be looking to bounce back in a big way. And Brown, who has shown some really good form of late, has three top 20’s in this event in just four showings. We are riding that course history and recent form hard in this bracket.

Robert Streb. We want to put J.T. Poston, or Blayne Barber, or Mackenzie Hughes, in this spot. All of those guys are local and can collect big checks here. However, we are going all the way down the list to 125 to 1 for Streb. We don’t care if he hasn’t been in his best form over the past few events. Streb won this event just three years ago, and the guy has serious game.
